Mil Std 461D
requirement RS-101 requires a method to verify that equipment under test are
not susceptible to magnetic fields in the frequency range 30 Hz - 100 kHz.
The RS-101 test requires the generation and monitoring of magnetic fields using loop antennas. The F-304 transmitting loop has 20 turns with a 12 cm diameter. The magnetic flux density generated at a distance of 5 cm from the plane of the loop is 9.5 x 10(7) PT/ampere of applied current. It has an isulating base and spacer which permits placing the loop at a distance of 5 cm from either the monitoring loop or the equipment under test. It is equipped with binding post terminals for connection to the signal source. The F-305 Monitoring Loop is a shielded loop sensor having 51 turns with a 4 cm diameter. It has an insulating base which permits it to be placed at a distance of 5 cm from the transmitting loop. A type N connector permits the output of the loop to be connected to an EMI receiver or spectrum analyzer. The sensing loop is calibrated and is provided with a correction factor to convert receiver readings in dB uV to dB PT. The correction factor is added to the dB uV of the receiver to convert the measurement values to dB PT. The correction factor is shown below. |
