LISN

A Line Impedance Stabilization Network (LISN) is a precision RF network device deployed in series between a facility power source and the Equipment Under Test (EUT) during conducted and radiated radio-frequency (RF) emission and susceptibility evaluations. Its application is governed by a broad range of internationally recognized Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) test standards and protocols. The LISN performs three critical functions within the test environment:

  • Impedance Stabilization — Establishes and maintains a stable, well-defined impedance at the EUT's power input terminals across a designated frequency spectrum, ensuring measurement accuracy and repeatability.
  • RF Isolation — Effectively decouples the EUT from extraneous conducted RF noise present on facility power lines, thereby preventing external interference from corrupting test results.
  • Conducted Emissions Measurement — Provides a standardized, reproducible measurement port for the quantification and analysis of conducted emissions generated by the EUT.
Our comprehensive LISN product portfolio encompasses high-current capacity models engineered to meet the rigorous demands of the following industry and regulatory test standards:
  • RTCA DO-160 — Environmental conditions and test procedures for airborne equipment
  • MIL-STD-461 — EMC requirements for military and defense systems
  • CISPR 16 / ANSI C63.4 — Radio disturbance measurement instrumentation and methods
  • CISPR 25 — Limits and methods for the protection of receivers in vehicles and boats
Our LISN solutions are designed to deliver consistent, compliant, and traceable test performance across a wide range of application environments and power configurations.
